We are so lucky to be part of a supportive community. The village of Marham and RAF Marham support the development of the Academy in many, many different ways.
We understand that it is our duty to be good neighbours and citizens. We take part in a number of different events throughout the year and are always on hand to help.
We recognise the value and importance of belonging to a community such as ours. Trustees and staff ensure that children develop an understanding of what being part of our local community entails. We value the wealth of history there is in Marham, the local farming industry, the RAF and put great value on the way in which residents help and support our developing understanding of our fantastic community.
Our community doesn't stop at the boarders of Marham. Many local landowners have generously offered us use of their facilities free of charge to help support our learning. Local farmers have eagerly discussed with the children the science behind the sowing and growing cycle and the workings of the gigantic machinery they use on the land. This level of interest and support gives a wonderful, rich environment in which our children can continue to learn that takes them beyond the classroom.
The Military Services feature very strongly in our community and offer us an enormous amount of support and generosity with their time and resources. From engineers, health and safety experts to the Fire Section, Police Section and community personnel we are extremely fortunate and grateful to enjoy such a brilliant and unique relationship.
We are part of a Cluster of Academies / Schools that feed directly into The Nicholas Hammonds Academy in Swaffham. The ten schools and academies work well together in a relationship built on trust and mutual respect. The children will spend time together in whole cluster sporting events and quizzes. Whilst geographically challenging to bring all the schools / academies together it is never the less a commitment made by all Principals / Headteachers to do so, as the impact on children's education and social experiences are too good an opportunity to miss out.
It is not only our location that links us with The Royal Air Force. The very special relationship we have continues to be strengthed on an almost daily basis. The personnel help us with our learning and give their time and expertise to enhance special projects. The children too recognise the role they play in this community and can often be found singing for special occassions.
We are very proud and very lucky to have the support of our farming community. From Sandringham to Marham and beyond our local community have helped and supported us as we learn about crops and nature.
We have seen some amazing things this year. By kind permission of the landowners we have seen crops planted and learnt about how important they are in everyday life. Who knew Maltesers were made from barley?
Our outdoor learning makes life here at Marham very special and being surrounded by so many fields we can't help but learn about the special crops surrounding us. Watch out for the sheep...you never know when they may visit!
Thank you to Heygates, Albanwise, Hillborough Estate and Sandringham Royal Fruit Farm for being so kind with their time.
