SPORTS PREMIUM SPENDING

The Government provides PE and Sports Premium Funding  to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools across the country.

Their vision is that “All pupils leaving primary school are physically literate and have the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.”

The objective for PE and Sports Premium Funding is

To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools against 5 key indicators:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles. The Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children aged 5 upwards engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport

At Cherry Tree Academy Trust Marham we are committed to using the PE and Sports Premium Funding to enhance the high quality teaching and experiences we already provide and to increase the opportunities for children to be active and develop a passion for sports and physical activity.

Our focus is on building on the skills that teachers and pupils currently have themselves and putting into practice the skills and knowledge that we have acquired from staff training. The majority of spending has been focused on staff development and training – The money has been spent on team teach sessions with PE specialists. This year, staff have continued to build on their knowledge of the PPE curriculum and NCFC coaches.

We also allocate funding for PE equipment to enhance the experience of all children and ensure they have access to high quality resources which enables them to be more active and develop their skills in PE lessons.

Here’s a breakdown of how we have used and are planning to use the money:
